I’ve just finished reading In the Blink of an Eye: A Perspective on Film Editing by Walter Murch. What can I say, it’s one of those books I think every aspiring moviemaker (be it in the role of camera man, editor, director or producer) should read.
Of course there is some stuff in it that “my” generation can’t really relate to (KEM? Editing with scissors?) and some of the very newest development aren’t really touched upon, but technology and it’s use is not, why you should have a look at this book.
Walter Murch gives very good insights into the editing process, the thoughts and ideas behind it. I have to admit that I learned quite a lot from that read. Especially the thoughts about blinks and cuts and why they do have a close relationship. Very insightful.
Watch when people blink and why. Fascinating stuff indeed!
Cheers
